On May 4th, we celebrated English Day at school and, throughout the whole day, all the students symbolically travelled to Canada. It was a very fun day full of activities to learn more about this country, its culture, and its traditions.
The kindergarten students discovered different typical aspects of Canada. They coloured drawings related to the country, completed worksheets and puzzles, and learned interesting facts about Canadian animals, landscapes, and customs.
The primary school students, on the other hand, took part in a big scavenger hunt around the school. They were divided into mixed groups from first to sixth grade in order to encourage teamwork and cooperation among students of different ages. Each activity was connected to a Canadian city and included a different challenge.
At the Toronto station, the students built the famous CN Tower. In Vancouver, they had to unwrap presents while wearing lots of warm clothes, just like in the cold Canadian weather. In Ottawa, they painted a totem pole and created an Indigenous name for themselves. In Calgary, they practised Canada’s most popular sport: hockey. Finally, in Quebec, they had to guess whether different words were written in English or French.
It was a very special day in which everyone learned English in a different, fun, and interactive way. Without a doubt, this year’s English Day will remain a wonderful memory for all the students and teachers at the school.
Sens dubte, l’English Day d’aquest any serà un record molt bonic per a tots els alumnes i mestres de l’escola.
